Social Justice Event
Mathew Shepard Event For my social justice project, I watched the Mathew Shepard Movie. This movie is based off a tragic true story. Mathew Shepard died October 12th, 1998 from being beaten to death with the end of a gun. Mathew was rapped and was harassed his whole life. Mathew Shepard was a teen who was struggling with his gender identity. However, once he knew who he was he wasn't afraid to show it. In one part of the movie he yelled "I love my boyfriend" in front of strangers. This greatly relates to one of our readings titled "11 and gender fluid." In this reading, a young child named Sullivan expressed his/her gender through their clothing. He/she wasn't afraid to wear both "boy" and "girl" clothes.
