                               "Teaching Multilingual children," by Virginia Collier This article states guidelines that help towards teaching multilingual children. This article is similar to another article I found interesting.    Hyperlink: https://www.spanishplayground.net/5-ways-teachers-can-support-home-language/ The link I included states 5 different ways that teachers can support different languages. I believe that these ideas branch off guidelines mentioned in "Teaching Multilingual Children." Both articles give great advice to help the learning environment of multilingual children. These children are special and should be treated differently. Both articles mention"being aware." I think that this is one of the most important ideas mentioned. Teachers need to be aware of this language gap and not ignore it. Teachers need to take action to make sure their students feel comfortable ...

"Amazing Grace," by Jonathan Kozol I decided to choose relevant quotes from this article because of how shocking they are. This article uncovers what it's like living in the South Bronx.  Quotes:  1.) "At the elementary school that serves the neighborhood across the avenue, only 7 of 800 children do not qualify for free school lunches." This means that 793 children qualify for free school lunches. This should be an eye opener of how poor this part of the Bronx really is.  2.) "Fear and anxiety are common. Many cannot sleep." This quote is very upsetting to read because I can only imagine how scary it would be to do daily activities. It's crazy how this environment can cause these health issues. However, I can see how it would. I would be terrified to sleep at night if I were to hear gunshots. Or possibly see something terrible happen right outside my window. 3.)   "USA, Land of Limitations" by Nicholas Kristof Argument: The reading talks about the struggles that Americans face. The struggles mentioned are unavoidable. Kristof mentions this man named Rick who lived a tough life. Rick had no control over what had happened to him. Rick made some bad decisions but couldn't help where he came from. Kristof wrote this reading to raise awareness about people like Rick. He wants presidential candidates to talk about this and the struggles that people face. However, not just any struggles. These struggles include poor families who physically can't get by no matter how hard they try. I inserted a few pictures that bring this idea further. One shows the difference between poor and rich workers. The other picture I added is a wheel of daily struggles for someone who is poor. I also attached an article proving this point further.
